Frontline Plus is a monthly treatment that is applied to the back of your dog or cats neck.
Frontline Plus contains Fipronil. Fipronil is an insecticide that effects the nervous system of fleas and ticks. Frontline Plus also contains S-Methoprene. S-Methoprene is an insect growth regulator that inhibits the maturation of flea eggs and larvae. Once Frontline Plus is applied to the dog or cat it is absorbed into the sebaceous glands and is wicked out of the hair follicles. Frontline Plus provides long-lasting, waterproof protection.
Frontline for cats and dogs is pretty much the same thing it is fairly close; you just get more when you buy the big dog dose vs. the cat dose.
In using our kit option (all up to you!), and learning how to measure the dose out, (very simple to do) you can save a lot of money by buying the big Extra large dose and dividing it among you pets, just a little extra work every month means big savings to you in return.
Frontline Plus for Dogs (fipronil 9.8% and S-methoprene 8.8%)
Frontline Plus for Cats (fipronil 9.8% and S-methoprene 11.8%)
It is possible to use one for the other, however it is unclear as to why the formula's are different.
But as it’s clearly marked the cat version has a higher concentration in this case the Dog version will not be harmful to a cat when used according the pets weight Cats all weights required .50 ml but for extremely obese cats a 0.0306 per lb can be used.
All dog versions, regardless of weight are the same composition, just different volumes. As such, it is possible to purchase a dose for a 100+pound dog, and portion it out for a 10 pound dog, provided you know what you're doing, and do a bit of research into correct volumes, safe storage of the unused product for months at a time, and have appropriate application equipment that is accurate to within a mL or so.
Frontline Plus minimum dose is 0.0306 mL/lb of body weight. The concentration of active ingredient is the same in all dose sizes and safe to use in both dogs and cats.
